Door Greeter at Mass
Weekend Masses, at the Church
Time Commitment:  About 20 minutes
No contacts or scheduling.  Simply choose a door.
Fun for all ages.  Offer a friendly welcome to your fellow parishioners as they arrive for Mass!

Eucharistic Minister

Eucharistic Ministers help serve communion at Mass and may also serve communion in hospitals, nursing homes, and to the homebound.  Some training is required.  Help every week or as needed.

Dedicated Adorer

Our Lady of Guadalupe Adoration Chapel is in need of adorers who are willing to commit to spending one hour with Our Lord in Eucharistic Adoration on any given day/night of the week. See our sign up wall (upstairs on the right-hand side wall) for current needs.

Can't commit on a weekly basis? That's okay! We need substitute adorers and even some temporary adorers to help fill in from time to time when committed adorers are gone. Not sure what to do in Adoration? That's okay, too! Let us know... we have suggestions. You will be amazed at how much you enjoy and look forward to the "quiet time" with Our Lord, and you'll want to set aside time to come back!

Habitat for Humanity - Construction Volunteers
Time Commitment:  Up to 7 hours each time
Contact:  Habitat for Humanity
Ages 18+.  Construction volunteers help build homes for local families in need.  Typical tasks include framing, drywall, soffit work, interior and exterior painting, and landscape related work.  All tools, gloves and safety gear provided.  Supervised by skilled construction team.  Must be present for safety briefing.  Bring some friends and help build some homes!

Clean the Sanctuary
Needed:   A Few Good Men and Women to help keep our Church Sanctuary clean.  Women: Cleaning (wiping down pews, straightening missels, etc.) 2nd Friday each month, following the 8:30am Mass for about 1 hr.  Contact: July M, 970-667-6817  Men:  Vacuum, Fridays, 12:00-1:00pm

 

HNS - Volunteer Pick-up Driver
Time Commitment:  Varies

A current urgent need is for pick up drivers to use their vehicle to pick up donations or items purchased for House of Neighborly Service clients. 

Sew Tunics for Children's Summer Musical

When: at home on your own sewing machine
Time: complete as many pieces as you'd like.
With provided fabric or your own fabric to donate, sew simple tunics used for costuming the children participating in the children's summer musical.
Ages: teen or adult seamstress with intermediate skill and sewing machine.

Miscellaneous Volunteer Opportunities

The Parish Office has received calls from people who are in need of a ride to weekend Mass, someone who is temporarily homebound and in need of help with pets and errands, and a few other unique situations.  Please assist your neighbors in need.

St. John's Nursery
Sundays during 9 am Mass

We are looking for volunteers and employees who would like to work in the church nursery during 9 am Mass. You and 3 other volunteers supervise and play with children ages 1-4 while their parents attend Mass. Volunteers choose which weekends and how often they want to volunteer. No childcare experience is necessary but Safe Environment Training is required. It is a fun way to serve our parish community!  Age restrictions: Females 16 and older

Welcome Desk greeters and Scrip Sellers
Opportunities 1 weekend per month, 30 minutes before and following weekend Masses (4pm, 7am, 9am, 11am and 1st and 3rd weekends for 1pm)

Duties at the desk are scrip sales at one end and “all other activities” at the other end.  Other activities include: greeting parishioners, scheduling Mass intentions, parish registration inquiries, inquiries about regular and current parish activities.  Parishioners who are young teens are welcome as long as they are accompanied by a parent/guardian.

SJE Moms Group Babysitter

We are looking for babysitters to watch children during the SJE moms group so moms have an opportunity to relax, listen to speakers, and enjoy some fellowship. Come play with the little ones, read books, color, and have fun! Must have Safe Environment training. 

CCW Bake Sale Donations
CCW will be having a bake sale on Palm Sunday (and after the 4 o'clock Mass on Saturday.) We would love donations of baked goods, which can be dropped off in the foyer after 2 on Saturday, March 24. Time commitment varies.

Catholic Charities
Various opportunities available from assisting the homeless, to teaching, senior care, family, group, and special opportunities.  Click here to see where you might be of help.

St. John's Funeral Dinners
Whenever there are funeral luncheons in the hall, donations of time and food are welcome. Must call first if you would like to volunteer or to see what the food needs are.  Contact Rose Ryder, 669-2419.

Fleece Blanket Service Project

Help cut fleece and help tie blankets together.  The date for this project has not been set, but if you are interested in helping, please contact Mrs. Weber.

Parish Landscaping Team

The Parish Landscaping Team could use some short-term help this Spring installing a prayer garden, roses around the Adoration Chapel and other small projects.  Donate an hour of time or join the team!  Your help is appreciated!
