OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE AT MASS

There are many dedicated people who give of their time to ensure Sunday and weekday Masses are a holy and welcoming experience.

• Altar Servers - Assist the priest at Mass. Open to anyone 10 years old and older.

• Usher - Arrange for seating, organize the offering, and coordinate bringing forward the gifts at Mass.

• Sacristan - Works behind-the-scenes to make sure all materials and supplies are ready for the celebration of the Eucharist.

• Eucharistic Minister - Assists with the distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ.

• Lectors - Proclaim God’s Word by reading the Scriptures at Mass.

• Altar Linens - Wash, iron, and care for purificators, corporal, and other linens used in the Liturgy.

• A/V Sound and Projection - Operates the sound system and projection system during Mass.

• Live Streaming - Operates the live stream equipment to share our Mass on YouTube. Contact communications@saintjohns.net if you would like to assist with streaming.

The mission of Music Ministry at St. John the Evangelist parish is to ensure quality music at all Liturgical Services that reflects the culture of the congregation while following the Roman Catholic guidelines.

Weekend Choir Practice Times:

Saturday Mass at 4:00p.m.

  • WHEN: Come, practice at 3:00p.m. 2-3 times per month and then sing with the 4:00p.m. Choir, led by Scott Sundheim.

  • WHERE: St. Claire’s Room in the Church Basement. Email Lisa Foncannon at Lisa.Foncannon@saintjohns.net for schedule.

Sunday Mass in English at 7:00a.m.

  • WHEN: Practice at 6:30a.m., or when group deems necessary.

  • WHERE: In St. Claire’s Room or in the Sanctuary when able. Led by Lee McClure.

Sunday Mass in English at 9:00a.m.

  • WHEN: Practice at 8:15a.m. Sunday Mornings.

  • WHERE: St. Claire’s Room/Church Basement. Led by Lisa Foncannon.

  • IN ADDITION: Practice at 6:45p.m. twice a month, Wednesday Evenings, September - May.

  • WHERE: Church Proper.

Sunday Mass in English at 11:00a.m.

  • WHEN: Practice at 9:30a.m. Sundays. Led by Kevin Foley.

  • WHERE: St. Claire’s Room, Church Basement

Sunday Mass in Spanish at 1:00p.m.

  • WHEN: Practice at 11:30 a.m. Sundays. Led by Luis Cazares.

  • WHERE: St. Claire’s Room, Church Basement

Holy Days and Extra Masses throughout the year.

  • Led by Cantors, Extra Choirs, or Combined Choirs.

  • WHEN: Wednesday evenings at 6:45, twice a month as needed.

This group is responsible for church décor and aesthetics.  There are no regular meetings, however, certain times of the year, such as Christmas and Easter, may require a greater time commitment than other times of the year.
