Pews removed
The pews have been removed from the Sanctuary and are off to be refurbished.
Moving Day
About 100 parishioners helped move and pack items from the church building. Thank you very much for your hard work preparing the church for construction!
Construction update from Father Steve
Demolition Starts on July 13th
Demolition will begin with asbestos abatement, utilities disconnect, and then the Formation House and Rectory will be torn down at some point in the next few weeks. A nearby home has been rented for our priests. Thank you for your continued support!
New Rectory Plans
Plans for the Rectory have been very fluid as much of the budgeting and planning has focused on accomplishing the goals for the church building (new offices, new hall, expanded narthex, updated sanctuary). We are very excited to share with you the proposed plans for the Rectory, which will provide a spacious and restful place for our priests to call "home."
Main floor includes:
open floor plan kitchen, dining and living room
chapel
laundry room
1 priest's suite with bathroom
3 car garage
Upper floor includes:
3 additional priest suites with bathrooms
bonus room
Funds Received as of May 31, 2020
The pandemic and associated closures have pushed the construction timeline back a little bit. Work is now expected to start sometime in mid-July to August. As of the end of May, you have given $2.3 million to the building project, over half-way to the pledged amount! Thank you for your continued support and generosity!
Sanctuary Level Plan
The draft below shows the floor plan of the church building. It includes the foyer stairs and shows the new parish office entry across from the new parish hall.
Pledges Received - as of January 31, 2020
As of January 31, 2020, $1.825 million has been received.
Thank you for your generosity and support!
Adjustments to the Design
As construction planning has moved forward in the past few months, it became clear that a few adjustments needed to be made from the proposed plan due to building codes, budget, functionality, accessibility, and other factors. Many changes won’t be noticeable (ie. the size of a sewer line, or moving a sink), but in an effort to be transparent about how your gifts are being stewarded, the biggest adjustments are highlighted here.
Parish Hall. There were many who expressed concern that the new hall would be bigger than our parish needs and it would block the view of Longs Peak from the Veterans Memorial. The redesigned hall will preserve the history, location, and integrity of the Veterans Memorial. The proposed hall would have had a max capacity of about 400 people. The redesigned hall will have a max capacity of about 365 people. Revised plans also include an outdoor patio area between the new church hall and Veterans Memorial, suitable for small receptions and gatherings.
Church Foyer. Instead of a grand staircase in the foyer entry, the revised plans call for the current stairway to remain in place. The upper foyer will still be expanded to allow more room for fellowship.
Parish Office. The most significant redesign involves the Parish Office. In the proposed design, the offices were 2 stories, with the lower level opening from the foyer. In the redesign, the upper level and main office entry will be on the same level as the Sanctuary, and the lower level of the offices will be on the same level as the church basement. The result of this redesign is a substantial savings in exterior work, materials, and not having to make changes to the current elevator. The Parish Office will be easily accessible through the new North door.
ADDITIONAL REDESIGNS
· A room for nursing mothers was added next to the new restroom just outside the Sanctuary.
· In order to remain within budget, most of the proposed renovations in the church basement will be postponed until a future date.
· No plans have been finalized for the rectory, but there have been significant cuts made from the original wish list.
· In the Sanctuary, it was determined that money would be saved and the choir area would be more functional, by moving the choir to the South side of the Sanctuary, instead of the North side.
Pledges Received - as of Dec. 31, 2019
Of the $4.2 million pledged to the campaign, $1.68 million has been collected. Thank you for your continued generosity and support!

Building Contractors Hired
The Building Committee is excited to announce that 2 contractors have been hired for the upcoming construction.
Fransen-Pittman brings a high level of experience to the project, having built hospitals, schools, and libraries, in addition to churches. They will be responsible for building the new church hall and parish offices, as well as the renovations to the Sanctuary, foyer, and church basement.
Coe Construction is a respected leader in the industry with experience building apartments, hotels, offices, restaurants, and more. Some of our parishioners are employed at Coe and their expertise has been very valuable in the campaign. They have been hired to build the new rectory.
Right now, we are on pace to start construction in May or June of 2020 and complete the project in February 2021.
Thank you very much for your commitment to making St. John’s a welcoming and lasting home for Catholics in Loveland!
